Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi

1 Day

The Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi 2026, located on the cultural district of Saadiyat Island, is one of the UAE’s most remarkable cultural landmarks and the first universal museum in the Arab world. Opened in 2017 through a collaboration between the governments of France and the United Arab Emirates, this iconic museum celebrates the shared story of humanity by showcasing art and artifacts from across different civilizations, time periods, and cultures.

What makes the Louvre Abu Dhabi truly unique is its architectural brilliance. Designed by the world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel, the museum features a striking “floating dome” with a complex geometric lattice of 7,850 stars. As sunlight passes through the dome, it creates a mesmerizing “Rain of Light” effect, a visual masterpiece that makes the museum itself a work of art. The entire complex is surrounded by water, giving the feeling of a “museum city” emerging from the sea.

Overview

Inside, the museum houses 12 permanent galleries arranged chronologically and thematically, taking visitors on a journey through the history of mankind — from prehistoric tools and ancient civilizations to masterpieces from the Renaissance, Islamic art, and modern contemporary works. Visitors can admire iconic pieces loaned from French institutions like the Louvre Paris, Musée d’Orsay, and Centre Pompidou, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet.
